Projector and Screen Installation in Toronto and the GTA

Projector setups fail for predictable reasons: the projector is mounted at the wrong distance so the image never fills the screen, the screen is a few degrees off level, the cables were never planned, or nobody adjusted the lens for the room. Each of those is avoidable with measurement before mounting.

XProTech installs ceiling projectors and projection screens across Toronto and the GTA, including throw distance calculation, joist-anchored mounting, concealed cabling, screen levelling, and full image alignment.

We begin with the throw ratio of your specific projector and the width of the screen you want. That determines exactly where the unit must sit on the ceiling. We confirm joist positions, mount the bracket securely, and set the height so the lens shift range can do its job without relying on heavy digital keystone correction, which softens the image.

Screens are levelled to the millimetre. A fixed-frame screen gives the best surface tension and the sharpest edges for a dedicated room. Motorized screens suit living rooms where the surface should disappear when not in use. Ambient light rejecting screens make a real difference in bright condos and basements with windows.

A frequent question is projector versus a very large TV. A projector wins on scale and on cost per inch above roughly 100 inches, and it creates a genuine cinema feel in a controlled-light room. A large TV wins on brightness, simplicity, and daytime viewing. Many households in the GTA end up with a TV in the main living room and a projector in the basement, which is a sensible split.

If you want the full experience, pair the projector with surround sound, acoustic treatment, and a universal remote. Our home theater setup service covers all of it.

Projector & Screen Installation FAQs

How far should a projector be from the screen?
Can a projector work in a bright room?

Yes, with the right combination. A high-brightness projector paired with an ambient light rejecting screen performs well in rooms with windows. For the deepest contrast, a controlled-light basement or theater room is still ideal.

Fixed screen or motorized screen?

A fixed-frame screen gives the flattest surface and sharpest edges, best for a dedicated room. A motorized screen retracts out of sight, which suits a living room or multi-purpose space where the wall has another job.

Can you hide the projector cables?

In most cases yes. Where the ceiling has accessible cavity space we route power and HDMI inside it. Otherwise we use a low-profile paintable raceway along the ceiling and down the wall to your equipment location.

Do you set up the sound as well?

Yes. We can connect a soundbar or configure a full surround system with a receiver, speakers, and subwoofer, then test everything together so picture and audio are synchronised.
