TV Wire Concealment in Toronto and the GTA

Wire concealment is the difference between a TV that looks mounted and a TV that looks installed. It is also the part of the job most often skipped, because it takes more time and more care than hanging the bracket itself.

XProTech hides TV wires. On drywall we route cables inside the wall to a recessed media plate. On concrete, brick, or condo walls where in-wall routing is restricted, we install a slim paintable raceway.

There are two main approaches. In-wall routing is the cleanest result: we cut a discreet opening behind the screen, install a low-voltage bracket and recessed plate, drop the cables inside the stud bay, and bring them out at a second plate behind your console. Power is handled with a code-appropriate in-wall rated kit rather than running a standard extension cord inside the wall.

Surface raceway is the alternative when the wall is concrete, when there is insulation or fire blocking in the way, or when a condo corporation restricts wall openings. A quality raceway is slim, sits tight to the wall, and disappears once painted the same colour.

A common question is whether an ordinary extension cord can simply be run inside the wall. It should not be. Standard cords are not rated for in-wall use. We use an in-wall rated power relocation kit, which provides a proper receptacle behind the TV fed from your existing outlet, keeping the installation safe and tidy.

We also plan for what comes next. If you might add a games console, a streaming box, or an ethernet run later, we leave a pull string or extra capacity in the cavity so the next cable does not mean another wall opening.

Wire concealment combines well with TV wall mounting, soundbar installation, and home theater setup. Booking them together saves a second visit.

Wire Concealment FAQs

Can you hide TV wires in a condo?
Is it safe to run a power cord inside the wall?

A standard power cord is not rated for in-wall installation. We use an in-wall rated power relocation kit that places a proper receptacle behind the TV, fed from a nearby existing outlet, which keeps the setup safe and tidy.

Can you hide wires on a TV that is already mounted?

Yes. We can dismount the screen, route the cables, install the plates, and rehang the TV in the same visit. Many customers book wire concealment on its own after living with visible cables for a while.

How long does wire concealment take?

In-wall concealment on a standard drywall wall usually adds about 60 to 90 minutes to a booking. Masonry walls, long cable runs, and fireplace walls take longer, and we confirm the time estimate before we begin.

Will you need to patch the wall?

In most cases no visible patching is required, because the openings sit behind the plates and the TV. If an access hole is unavoidable in a visible area, we tell you first and keep the cut small and patch-ready.
